SUNSET/MOONLIGHT/LIGHTHOUSE CRUISE
Description: The Long Island Lighthouse Society will conduct its fourth annual "Beacons of the Night" sunset/moonlight/lighthouse cruise on Saturday, September 20, 2003. Participants will see several offshore lighthouses in the late afternoon, then see them casting their beams at night on the return to Greenport. This will be a unique opportunity to see lighthouses as they were intended to be seen: at night. Lighthouses scheduled to be seen include Long Beach Bar (The Bug Light), Orient Point (The Coffee Pot), Plum Island, Little Gull Island, and Race Rock. At least obe former lighthouse keeper will be along to relate stories of life at an offshore Long Island Lighthouse. Bob Muller, Society president and author of the upcoming book on Long Island's Lighthouse History, will provide historic narration and answer questions. Cost is $65 for members, $75 for nonmembers, $35 for children under 12. Includes refreshments.
