To accomplish this mission the National Lighthouse Museum will:

- Create a National Lighthouse Museum which collects, researches and interprets lighthouse history and technology.
- Create an archive and foster research of American lighthouse history.
- Serve as a contact point for public inquiry and assistance using state of the art communication.
- Celebrate America's lighthouse heritage through educational programs, publications, films, festivals, living history, lighthouse trails, conferences, and other such offerings.
- Support existing and future lighthouse museums, organizations and sites.
- Establish partnerships with other organizations to obtain these goals.
